Neil Clarke - percussionist and long time member of Randy Weston's African Rhythms group. Neil Clarke has enjoyed long- standing relationships with such notable artists as Harry Belafonte, Onaje Allen Gumbs, Dianne Reeves, David Sanborn, Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu, Carlos Garnettt, Paul Winter, the Spirit Ensemble, Tulivu Donna Cumberbatch, the late Noel Pointer, the late Arthur Prysock, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the International African American Ballet, and many others.

Owner Levy open the Flamingo Lounge at 259 Kingston Avenue near St. Johns Place in the 70s. This neighborhood outpost for "Real Jazz" hired acts such as Houston Person, Etta Jones along with a host of today's central Brooklyn jazz favorites performing in their early days. Filling the musical void left open when other shrines closed down to the drug infestation in our community. Levy keep his venue classy and free of "the element" thus providing the music in an atmosphere conducive to aficionados.

Lesedi Ntsane is a South African born trumpeter and a graduate of the New School for Jazz and Contempoary Music. Lesedi chops favor musicians of the American hard bop scene of the 60s. Though raised in the land of the "pennywhistle, " known nationally as kwela music, he developed his own voice blending stylings of both continents.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium created the BJHoFame in 1999 to bring attention to Brooklyn's rich jazz heritage. Every April, known nationally as Jazz Appreciation Month, CBJC holds a ceremony to honor the artists who have made an impact on Brooklyn Jazz. Noted and unheralded musicians are inducted; contributors to the jazz community are recognized, awarded.
