| Tremblant International Blues Festival Unveils 2016 Event Programme Amid the cheerful ambience of spring skiing, today the Tremblant International Blues Festival team unveiled its 2016 event programme accompanied by spokesperson Anne-Marie Withenshaw. The 23rd edition of TIBF promises to deliver diversity, quality and up-close-and-personal moments with this year's artists, as Tremblant's intimate pedestrian village gets ready to present close to 100 free shows, this July 8 - 17 2016. Beyond this year's four outdoor stages where top bluesmen from the four corners of the globe will converge along with highly adored Québécois artists, this summer festivalgoers are sure to soak up blues of every shade. On the programme: Street blues, surprise performances in unusual places, blues dance parties, music workshops, blues cafés, jam sessions in the village's restaurants and bars and of course this year's Blues'Araoke Contest, mentored by Martin Deschamps. Must-See Headliners July 8 : Heymoonshaker - The unlikely pairing of two street artists straight from the UK - Andy Balcon and Dave Crowe - who meld their passion for blues and electronica into a new beatbox artform. The two share an undeniable chemistry that makes for a highly interesting show. The Porn Flakes with Sébastien Plante, Lulu Hughes & Fred Lebel are back again with a new tribute to the 60s British invasion and blues. Their playlist includes the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds, John Mayal and the Bluesbreakers, The Jeff Beck Group, The Animals, Eric Clapton & Cream, Spencer Davis Group, Free and several other music legends. July 9 Exclusive to Québec - John Németh with Special Guest Diunna Greenleaf. This accomplished blues harmonica player has garnered two Blues Music Awards, one for Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year (2014), and another for Soul Blues Album of the Year (2015). With six albums all praised by critics, Németh has rubbed shoulders with the planet's who's who of blues. According to the Philadelphia Daily News, "you'd think he was straight out of the 60s with his throwbacks to Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Jackie Wilson". At TIBF, Németh welcomes a very special guest, Texas grande dame of blues Diunna Greenleaf who grew up immersed in gospel. She also performs solo on July 10. July 10 Delgres is a band from Guadeloupe delivering a tight, intimate, universal performance that is sure to get everyone up and dancing, as they rekindle memories of their ancestors and serve up the best of the delta blues. Exclusive to Québec - Jonathan Tyler rose quickly to stardom as a cast member of the Austin City Limits TV show, the Bonnaroo Festival, the Hang Out Fest and the Voodoo Experience. In addition to a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he has performed opening sets for AC/DC, ZZ Top, Grace Potter and Kid Rock. Free of the industry's big-label constraints, he brings his third album called Holy Smokes to the stage, delivering a deeply personal, bare-naked introspective. July 11 Acoustic Summit - Adam Karch, Charlie A'Court, Sean Pinchin & Dione Taylor, John Campbelljohn, Steve Marriner and Samantha Martin - together on the same stage for a rare acoustic performance. Each digs down deep into their bag of personal memories, showcasing the names that influenced their career. Out on the Casino stage, a circular setup allows the seven musicians maximize on musical riff sharing. The Paul Deslauriers Band was shortlisted as a finalist from the 119 bands competing at the 2016 Memphis International Blues Challenge. The trio is formed by guitarist Paul Deslauriers whose career has been rewarded by scores of awards and trophies, bass player Greg Morency a.k.a Canada's top bass player at the 2015 Maple Blues Gala, and by drummer Sam Harrisson, a six-time winner of Québec's Gala Lys Blues. July 12 - Angel Forrest is riding high on a 26-year career with 9 albums and a string of trophies from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Maple Blues Awards. On album Angel's 11, Forrest is joined by eleven guitarists on eleven songs, each created in a unique and emotionally charged spirit of collaboration. Steve Strongman, Ricky Paquette, Jean-Sébastien Chouinard, Corey Diabo, Dimitri LeBel-Alexandre, Richard Boisvert and Kim Greenwood. July 13 Matt Schofield returns to Tremblant with a new album, Far As I Can See. A British Blues Hall of Fame inductee, he is one of the most gifted 6-string guitar players of his generation. The Los Angeles Daily News recently said of the UK native that he was "the best blues guitar player out of the United Kingdom, all countries combined, by at least a head!" while Guitar & Bass magazine ranks him among the top ten British blues guitarists of all time, alongside Eric Clapton and Peter Green. Steve Strongman captivates his audience with his own compositions and contagious enthusiasm. The Hamilton, Ontario native won a Juno at the 2013 Juno Awards, as well as countless Maple Blues Awards. A TIBF habitué, in 2016 he is giving a solo show exclusive to Tremblant, on Promenade Deslauriers' up-close-and-personal outdoor stage. Dawn Tyler Watson has shown incredible versatility throughout her 25-year career. A three-time Maple Blues award winner, for two years this incontestable Canadian queen of blues has been collaborating with singer-guitar player Ben Racine and his band of seven musicians. Their playlist includes select jazz, blues, gospel and soul pieces. TIBF Exclusivity - Gregory Charles is putting on a special blues/R&B show exclusively created for Tremblant. The Canadian star with endless talent discovered music thanks to his parents, developing his gift for classical piano from a very young age and later performing with symphony orchestras on this side of the pond and beyond. Not only is he known as a singer-songwriter, art director, professor and choirmaster but also as a TV and radio show host, comic, producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur. July 14: Ian Siegel is at Tremblant to play the best of blues Americana. Britain's national treasure, in leading publications like Classic Rock and Mojo, the multiple British Blues Award-winner is positively on fire. In fact, Mojo describes him as "one of the most innovative and talented blues players on the planet." Exclusive to Québec - Nikki Hill sings with as much aplomb as conviction. She's not just the newest pretty face on the musical landscape. Her effect on stage and the authenticity of her lyrics place her among soul legends. According to Spin magazine, she "not only draws on a rich retro sound, she knows exactly what to do with it." This Carolina girl's latest album, Heavy Hearts, Hard Fists, shows she's far more than a pale imitation of Etta James. Exclusive to Québec - Big Sam Funky Nation promises to be highly entertaining with its precious melange of funk, soul, rock'n'roll and dance music. With an arsenal of brass, this hot New-Orleans band generates thundering, energizing funk. Trombone player Big Sam has played with giants like Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint, in addition to working with the likes of the Dave Matthews Band and Widespread Panic. In 2006, amid the sequels of Hurricane Katrina, he shared the stage with U2 and Green Day to mark the reopening of the Superdome. July 15 - Ana Popovicis referred to as an "extraordinary guitar player‟ by Bruce Springsteen, while ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons says she "puts rock into blues with amazing panache." In May 2016, the Serbian guitarist will be releasing her most ambitious project yet, Trilogy, regrouping three albums into one and featuring 25 jazz, blues and funk titles. Produced by two Grammy award-winners - Warren Riker (Lauryn Hill, Carlos Santana) and Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi) - and Delfeayo Marsalis, a top-notch jazz trombonist-composer. July 16: Exclusive to Québec -- Jack Broadbent rapidly rose to blues rock stardom. This talented British singer-composer grew up listening to John Lee Hooker, Peter Greene, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Deeply rooted in blues, he captivates today's audiences with ripping slide guitar riffs. Andria Simone may be many things, but a traditional blues vocalist she is not. Her muses are Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Etta James and Aretha Franklin. Digging deep to draw most her inspiration from soul music, her tone goes straight to the heart. She returns to Tremblant after being crowned TIBF's 2015 People's Pick. Breen Leboeuf & Martin Deschamps join forces to make Tremblant resonate to their show's hot new vibe. This iconic pair of top Québécois artists plays medleys from their respective repertoires, as well as great rock and blues classics. Martin Deschamps -- This Year's Blues'Araoke Mentor Saturday July 9 & 16, 20 candidates will audition in front the public to determine which 8 move on as finalists in this year's 2016 Blues'Araoke Contest, with band Wang Dang Doodle playing backup on the Casino stage, on Place St-Bernard, Sunday July 17. All meet this year's contest mentor Martin Deschamps, and receive his precious advice. The winner takes home a guitar autographed by all 2016 TIBF artists, courtesy of La Boîte à musique.
