Thelonious Monk Competition Winners to Perform this Winter

BMCC Tribeca PAC is proud to present the talented winners of the 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. This year's three finalists, outstanding jazz vocalists, will perform with their own bands.

Jazzmeia Horn
First Place Winner
Saturday, Feb 20 at 7:30PM;

Vocalist Jazzmeia "Jazz" Horn has earned a reputation as a dynamic musician with a soulful sound. Jazzmeia was awarded both the "Rising Star Award" (2012) and the "First Place Prize" (2013) in the Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition.

Veronica Swift
First Runner-Up
Saturday, March 5 at 7:30PM

Jazz vocalist Veronica Swift has two albums as a leader under her belt, in addition to several festival appearances and headlining performances at major clubs such as Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC and Blues Alley in Washington, DC.

Vuyo Sotashe
Second Runner-Up
Saturday, March 19 at 7:30PM TIX

Young South African jazz vocalist, Vuyo Sotashe, also won first prize at the very first Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival Vocal Competition in 2014. More recently, he won the Audience prize award and placed second over-all at the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition in 2015.
