After experiencing one of their powerful performances, Dr. Maya Angelou had this to say about the duo: "Magnificent!" According to Christina Aguilera "there are good voices, and there are GREAT voices. Nicole Nelson's is definitely the latter." Dr. John hails Dwight & Nicole as being "truly great!" Dwight & Nicole's rousing band for the 2015 New Year's Eve gala will include Milt Reder (guitar, backing vocals), Greg Paraskos (bass), Yahuba Garcia-Torres (percussion, backing vocals), and Hillary McCabe (violin, backing vocals). Essentially, they don't like to be categorized. Their music is "inspired by our love together and trying to look at the world's bright side, " says Dwight. "It's not about the bright lights/big-city lights. It's about the inner light, " adds Nicole. Or as producer Milt Reder says, "There's a spirituality to it without it being heavy-handed. It has a lot to do with the way their relationship is." Their single "I Need Love" was named one of the Top Songs of the Year by the Boston Herald. Nicole, who was a standout finalist on NBC's hit TV show "The Voice, " has received major accolades for her stirring rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", reaching #24 on the nationwide iTunes pop charts. Their album "Shine On, " recorded at Milt Reder's Rear Window Studio in Boston, was heavily funded by Dwight & Nicole's devoted fans via the music-centric crowd-sourcing site, PledgeMusic.com. The duo's recent momentum also landed them on Boston Globe's "25 Most Stylish of the Year" list, and found them playing major festivals such as Montreal Jazz and Life Is Good, as well as significant venues such as Fenway Park, Boston's Symphony Hall, Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble, and the Blue Note in NYC. They have shared stages with iconic artists BB King, Buddy Guy, Dave Brubeck, Dr. Maya Angelou, Mavis Staples, Ray Lamontagne, Trombone Shorty, Levon Helm, Norah Jones, Dr. John, Wynton Marsalis, The Avett Brothers, Chuck Berry, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Irma Thomas.
