We'll be featuring songs from "All I Know" as well as other favorites. Come out and hang! And for those of you attending the Jazz Education NetworkConference in Louisville in January, I'll be performing on Friday at 1pm with my quartet featuring Dave Stryker on guitar, Jeremy Allen on bass, and Matt Wilson on drums with a guest appearance by the lovely Sara Caswell on violin. Sara and I are also pleased to be appearing at JEN as featured artists with the Bloomington High School North Advanced Jazz Band on Thursday. Fun things to look forward to! Monday, December 7, 2015 The Bar Next Door 131 MacDougal St. New York, NY 8:30pm & 10:30pm $12 Rachel Caswell, vocals Dave Stryker, guitar Jay Anderson, bass Friday, January 8, 2016 2016 Jazz Education Network Conference New Voices Stage – 2nd Floor Suite Tower Galt House 140 N. 4th St. Louisville, KY 1pm-1:50pm (Conference credentials required.) Rachel Caswell, vocals Dave Stryker, guitar Jeremy Allen, bass Matt Wilson, drums All I Know, is that Rachel Caswell is a tremendous musician who sings beautifully. In this duo setting each with Dave and Jeremy, Rachel's creative interaction is truly equal. She has no place to hide, and she is clearly in control, comfortable, and relaxed. Her tone is gorgeous and her pitch is, simply, sensational! Rachel's rendering of each tune is engaging throughout her program. BRAVO! – Rufus Reid, Jazz Bassist/Composer Rachel is a wonderful singer with a deep feeling and a fantastic improvisational talent complimented by a lovely rich sound. – Sheila Jordan, Jazz Vocalist In a set of duets with only guitar or bass behind her, Caswell digs deeper into the classic songs than the average jazz diva working with a big budget and lush orchestration does. Approaching the songs as a jazzbo rather than a vocalist, the color and depth of the tunes go to a different place. Any fan of any thrush that ever pushed the envelope will find this a winner of a jazz vocal date. – Chris Spector, Midwest Record write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Jazz News :: home page |
