Magos Herrera & Javier Limón To Perform Music From New Album "He For She"at National Sawdust, October 15

Every relationship is about the commingling of two unique sensibilities into one harmonious experience. He for She, the newest collaboration by Mexican-born jazz vocalist Magos Herrera and Spanish Flamenco innovator Javier Limón, is a romance in luxurious musical form, bringing together the passion and rhythmic drive of flamenco with the sultry sophistication and alluring wit of jazz. On October 15, the pair will perform the music at National Sawdust, joined by special guests, in advance of the album's release on October 16.

The event takes place at 7pm & 9pm. Tickets for each set are $40 and available for purchase at www.nationalsawdust.org or by calling 646-779-8455. A $5 charge will be added to tickets purchased at the door.

After recording their celebrated first collaboration Dawn (Okeh Records 2014), Herrera and Limón joined forces to record a new album to support the "He for She" United Nations campaign, a solidarity movement for gender equality. The collaboration represents the blending of two fresh, forward-thinking approaches to their respective musical traditions. As with Dawn, He for She is comprised of a soulful repertoire of Latin American classics and originals, here reflecting the possibility of having any conversation among men and women be approached with respect, kindness and understanding.

Joining them on He for She are internationally acclaimed artists including iconic Argentinean rock singer-songwriter Fito Páez, Mexican vocalist Eugenia León, Swiss jazz harmonica player Grégoire Maret, Colombian ballenato luminary Chabuco, Israeli composer-clarinetist Oran Etkin, American jazz singer Sachal Vasandani and Brazilian percussionist Rogério Boccato, At National Sawdust, Herrera and Limón will be joined by Maret, Vasandani, Etkin and Boccato, as well as Colombian singer-songwriter Andrea Tierra and choreographer Reggie "Regg Roc" Gray.

Since moving to New York City in 2008, Herrera has brought the sounds of her native Mexico and Latin America into the vanguard of modern jazz, collaborating with such acclaimed and distinctive artists as pianist Aaron Goldberg, guitarist Lionel Loueke, bassist John Patitucci and saxophonist Tim Ries, among others, a journey that has been honored by Berklee College by giving her the first "Berklee Latino Music Masters Award". As a virtuoso guitarist and in-demand producer, Limón has helped to expand the vocabulary of Flamenco music via collaborations with renowned artists like Paco de Lucía, Bebo and Chucho Valdés, Avishai Cohen, and Wynton Marsalis, among others.
