Amber Rock Association - Amber Rock
Actually, this is Mladen "Bobby" Gutesha's album. although he has fallen into obscurity the Sarajevo-born Gutesha was a voice in jazz composing and arranging from the mid-fifties on into the 80's. He arranged for jazz greats as diverse as Benny Goodman, the Modern Jazz Quartet, and was involved with ECM productions that included albums by Jan Garbarek and Keith Jarrett. Arranged, conducted, and produced by Gutesha, Amber Rock is a compilation of 12 jazzed up 60's pop classics.

Charly Antolini - Special Delivery / Charly Antolini - In The Groove
Swiss drummer Charly Antolini has been a force in European mainstream jazz for over half a century, a super-technician often compared with Buddy Rich and Louis Bellson. Beginning his professional career playing in Paris with such New Orleans legends as Sidney Bechet and Albert Nicholas, he graduated to swing and bop, working with Benny Goodman, Earl Hines, Jimmy Guiffre, and Art Farmer, among others. Antolini is best known for his own all-star ensembles.

Elvin Jones - Remembrance
Elvin Jones is one of a handful of drummers whose innovations have changed the way the instrument is played. His work with the legendary John Coltrane Quartet has earned him a place in the pantheon of jazz greats. In the years proceeding his work with Trane, he established a series of exciting groups under his own name. This 1978 addition features American saxophonist Pat LaBarbera and Jamaican saxophonist Michael Stuart. Noted for his work with Buddy Rich from 1967 to '73, LaBarbera started working with Jones in 1975 and would be with him for the next decade.

Billy Brooks - El Babaku
This 1971 recording is something special – no chordal instruments, no horns, four Americans and one Cuban performing traditional African and Afro-Cuban pieces in a live spiritual ritual of drumming, chants, and song. Known for his work with Woody Shaw and Eddie Harris, American percussionist Billy Brooks moved to Europe in 1964, where he has played with the likes of Tete Montoliu and Dusko Goykovich. The African-rooted El Babaku is the group's theme song, with Brooks playing bass block flute and leading the call and response.
