Steve Holt Returns To Toronto

Inner Music & Media Group and Old Mill Toronto are very pleased to present a reunion of old friends. For the first time in 15 years, jazz pianist Steve Holt will perform in Toronto. On Friday July 17 for one night only, pianist Steve Holt will be joined by Steve Wallace on bass and Barry Romberg on drums at the Home Smith Jazz Bar in the Old Mill Hotel in Toronto.

Steve Holt is one of Canada's most important Jazz pianists, and has worked with the likes of Archie Shepp, Larry Coryell, James Moody, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, and Michel Urbaniak. In the 1980s he studied in New York with legendary pianist Kenny Barron and graduated with distinction as McGill University's first-ever Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz performance. Holt has recorded several important albums for the Sackville and PLUG labels, receiving a JUNO nomination for his debut album.

Steve Wallace worked with Steve Holt during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Wallace is one of the most clubs while he was still in his twenties, including Clark Terry, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, Zoot Sims, and Pepper Adams. Wallace was a member of the Oscar Peterson Trio during the 1990s.

Barry Romberg worked with Steve Holt in the late 1980s, performing in Toronto and touring Canada's jazz festival circuit. Romberg has established himself as one of Canada's most unique drummers, and has worked with international jazz greats like Gil Evans, Hank Jones, Joe Henderson, and Lee Konitz. He has been featured on over sixty recordings, including 13 as a leader/co-leader.

Come out and enjoy the musical reunion of these three remarkable musicians.
