Judy Collins Releases First Studio Album In Four Years

Judy Collins, the endlessly prolific singer, songwriter, author, activist and painter, will release 'Strangers Again' (Wildflower/Cleopatra), her first studio work since 2011, on September 18th. Judy is golden-voiced and soaring over this fresh collection, with sparkling interpretations of songs by Leonard Bernstein and Sondheim, Randy Newman and James Taylor. She invited a number of special guests to join her - "men who have carved out the melodies and the memories of the decades-past and present-with their beautiful and soulful voices, interpretations and song-writing, " she says. They include friends old and new, icons and young talents alike: Jackson Browne, Jimmy Buffett, Don McLean, Jeff Bridges, Glen Hansard, Willie Nelson and more.

On 'Strangers Again' Judy revisits "Send In The Clowns" with Don McLean, a song she first recorded in 1975 and helped to etch her name into the firmament of American icons. "Such fun to finally have some company after singing it alone for all these years!" she says. When Judy asked Jeff Bridges to sing with her, she was delighted that he chose Leonard Bernstein's "Makes Our Garden Grow, " from 'Candide.'

Judy is perhaps one of the best-suited singers to record "Hallelujah" given her long history with Leonard Cohen (she was the first to record his work), and does so on the album with rising star Bhi Bhiman. She's also joined by Thomas Dybdahl, Ari Hest and Academy Award-winner Glen Hansard, interpreting songs penned by each.

Judy has appeared everywhere from Sesame Street to HBO's Girls, performed at a presidential inauguration and released two live DVD/CD specials in the past three years which were also broadcast on PBS. She performs over 100 shows a year and 2015 is no different, with summer dates including Lincoln Center's Out of Doors festival on July 26, and the Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles on July 17.
