Monday's (8-11pm) Wednesday's (8:30-11:30pm) Jordan Young's "Soul-Tone" Organ Trio is Inspired by all the great classic organ group's from the 60's and 70's. Artists such as Big John Patton, Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Larry Young and Melvin Rhyne, to name a few, play an important role in the development of the trio's sound. Not too mention performing hip arrangements of some well known, and not so well known, classic TV shows and movies. While rooted in the "Be-Bop" and "Soul-Jazz" tradition Jordan's trio comes together to create a hard swinging, creative and always forward thinking music. Jordan always features some of the highest level musicians in jazz. Artists such as Paul Bollenback, Brian Charette, Ed Cherry, Matt Chertkoff, Mike DiRubbo, Kyle Koehler, Randy Johnston, Jared Gold, Pat Bianchi and Yotam Silberstein too name a few have all graced the B Flat stage. In the last 10 years drummer Jordan Young has been making a name for himself as one of the premier jazz drummers in New York City. He has performed and recorded as sideman for many top jazz artists such as Javon Jackson, Wynton Marsalis, Calvin Keys, Ed Cherry, Steve Wilson, Steve Nelson and Peter Bernstein, to name a few. Jordan has recorded two albums as a leader. His debut recording entitled "The Jordan Young Group" was self released in 2010, and "Cymbal Melodies" was released on the Posi-Tone label in 2013. Both recordings met with critical acclaim. In addition, Jordan is currently finishing up his last semester for the prestigious Artist Diploma program at The Juilliard School which travels around the globe representing the school. Currently, Jordan leads a successful organ trio that has toured internationally and performs steadily in and around the New York City area. Of course, they always love it when they can perform at their mystical home Authentic Bar B Flat in TriBeCa on Monday and Wednesday evenings. write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Jazz News :: home page |
