| Berklee College of Music to host AEC’s Pop and Jazz Platform 2015 at its Valencia campus. Berklee College of Music, the world's leading college of contemporary music, will host the AEC's (Association Européenne des Conservatoires) Pop and Jazz Platform (PJP) 2015 at its international campus in Valencia on February 13-14, 2015. The theme for the event is: Pop, Jazz and ME - Developing Diversity and Identities Among Artists and Audiences. The two day PJP event will welcome keynote speaker, Danilo Pérez, Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer from Panama and Artistic Director of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute; as well as panelists and speakers, including Belgian jazz singer, composer, lyricist, producer and multi-instrumentalist David Linx; Dutch composer, violinist and theater maker Merlijn Twaalfhoven; Palestinian rap artist and producer Muhammad Mughrabi; and Scott Cohen, co-founder and Vice President, International of The Orchard, the world's largest digital distribution company. The speakers will share their views and experience on the theme with attendees. "We are delighted to be hosting this year's AEC Pop and Jazz Platform and welcoming musicians, professionals and educators from all over Europe to our Valencia campus for what promises to be an interesting event exploring two areas which are also inherent to the Berklee philosophy, " commented Maria Iturriaga, Associate Executive Director and Dean of Admissions for the Valencia Campus, Berklee College of Music. "Berklee prides itself on being a learning lab for music with diversity at the heart of our college – our masters student body currently represents 31 countries, " Iturriaga continued. "The pursuit of personal voice and identity is a fundamental part of our students' development and education in preparation for their future success as artists in today's global music industry." Co-funded by the European Commission's cultural program: Creative Europe, the PJP 2015 is one of the actions of a three year project called: Full Score being conducted by the AEC to address, among other themes, the major issue of audience development in what is now a culturally and technologically dynamic world of musical production and consumption. "This year's event will feature artists and experts from the industry who represent the very meaning of diversity for the first of a new series of annual pop and jazz meetings which - as part of the Creative Europe Programme - will spearhead our examination of issues surrounding audience development over the next three years, " explained Jeremy Cox, Chief Executive of the AEC. "We are grateful to Berklee for hosting this year's event and opening its state-of-the art facilities at the Valencia campus to our delegates, not only in the pursuit of the event theme, but also as the forum for the identification and sharing of best practice and partnership building to continue to enhance the standards of Higher Education in music for our members - and beyond." The event program also includes the opportunity for delegates to participate in activity sessions from scoring sessions in the Berklee recording studios and a DJ lab; to sessions on Butacada; Flamenco-Cajón; and Ableton, further exploring the event theme at Berklee's high-tech campus, located in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.
