Brava!" - Susan Winter, Cabaret Artist and Co-host / Co-producer, Open Mic @ The Met) - - - - - "Broadsway blew me away!" - Sandra McFarland, Cabaret / Broadway blogger, This Broad's Way Broadsway is the combination of three uber-talented "Broads": Dora Mavor Moore Award (Canada's version of the Tony) nominee Diane Leah, National Jazz Award-winner, Heather Bambrick, and international touring Jazz artist Julie Michels. In Broadsway, they bring their respective musical talents together with the repertoire of the Theatre, the improvisational spirit of Jazz, and a large dose of humor to create a show that is immeasurably entertaining. Since their formation three years ago, they've been featured in festivals (Global Cabaret Festival; Toronto International Jazz Festival), theatres (Roy Thomson Hall; Canadian Opera Company's Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre), in concert series (JAZZ.FM91 Cabaret Series; various others in Southern Ontario), and at some of the finest live music venues in North America (Jazz Bistro - Toronto; The Metropolitan Room - New York). Their debut CD Old Friends has received critical acclaim and they are currently working on their follow up recording. Broadsway also has plans for a Holiday release in 2015. Their next Metropolitan Room show will closely follow showcases at APAP New York (Saturday, January 10th, 11:30 pm and Sunday, January 11th, 10:00 pm, NY Hilton Midtown, 4th Floor) as well as a feature at The Salon, hosted by Richard Skipper (Sunday, January 11th, 7:00 pm, Etcetera Etcetera, NY). As always, the show will feature excellent music, brilliant arrangements, and Broadsway's signature dose of humor – all adding up to a highly entertaining, "get on your feet" kind of show that's not to be missed!! write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Jazz News :: home page |
