| Peter Bernstein Quartet at The Falcon Fri., Jan. 9th 8pm Peter Bernstein Trio Featuring Doug Weiss, Billy Drummond and Speciaal guest, Brad Mehldau! Jazz guitarist, Peter Bernstein has the respect of peers and mentors, recognized in the readers' and critics' polls for Down Beat Magazine the last ten years and participated in over 60 recordings and numerous festival, concert and club performances. Peter has had associations with jazz notables, Jimmy Cobb, Joshua Redman, Diana Krall, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and as a touring member of the legendary Sonny Rollins' group. Bernstein released "Solo Guitar – Live at Smalls", an intimate recording that puts the listener in the front row at Small's jazz club, NYC. Brad Mehldau has forged a unique path, which embodies the essence of jazz exploration, classical romanticism and pop allure, through contemporary jazz piano. From critical acclaim as a bandleader to major international exposure in collaborations with Pat Metheny, Renee Fleming, and Joshua Redman, Mehldau continues to garner awards and admiration. His inspired musicianship prompted the LA Times to say he's become "universally admired as one of the most adventurous pianists to arrive on the jazz scene in years." Bassist, Doug Weiss has toured Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States with a wide variety of discerning musical luminaries; Toshiko Akiyoshi, Mose Allison, Marc Copland, Kenny Drew Jr, Al Foster, Billy Hart, Fred Hersch, Clifford Jordan, Lee Konitz and Joe Williams. Heralded by Downbeat as "one of the hippest bandleaders now at work" Billy Drummond, is widely acknowledged as one of the great drummers of his generation. A much in-demand sideman, who has appeared on more than 300 albums, Drummond currently leads his band, Freedom of Ideas.
