| Berklee Valencia Doubles Enrollment, Former Fox Music President Kraft Joins Faculty Berklee College of Music, the world's leading college for contemporary music, welcomed 148 students from 31 different countries to its one-year intensive master's programs at its Valencia, Spain, campus last week for the start of its third academic year. Representing an annual increase of 38 percent, the number of students has doubled since the master's programs at Berklee in Valencia began in 2012 with 74 musicians. Graduate students at Berklee's Valencia campus are accepted into one of four contemporary music master's degree programs: Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games; Contemporary Performance; Global Entertainment and Music Business; and Music Technology Innovation. These students come from as far afield as Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Jordan, South Africa, Central and South America, South Korea, and the U.S., and from across all of Europe. "We are excited about the start of the academic year. The success of the programs resulted in a significant increase in applications this year, and the acceptance of outstanding students from even more countries around the globe, " commented Guillermo Cisneros, vice president for Global Initiatives at Berklee and executive director of Berklee in Valencia. This year, Oscar-nominated songwriter and former president of Fox Music Robert Kraft joins the Valencia campus faculty as visiting professor of music and media. Kraft is currently the CEO of Kraftbox Entertainment and a soundtrack consultant for Warner Bros. Records. Renowned bassist Gary Willis also joins the team as a professor of bass. Willis launched his solo career in 1996 and has released three albums as a leader and dozens more as a co-leader or sideman. In 1999, Ibanez introduced the Signature Gary Willis Bass, allowing musicians to get "the Willis sound." Berklee's Valencia campus continues to collaborate with organizations such as Midem, Sonar, TEDx, and Rethink Music; and with leading industry professionals, artists, and honorary doctorate recipients, including Placido Domingo, Alejandro Sanz, and Eddie Gomez. These alliances enable Berklee to enhance the curriculum with guest master classes, clinics and workshops, trips to leading global events, and professional performance and recording opportunities. Established as a hub for those wishing to pursue an international career in the music industry, Berklee's Valencia campus is located in the iconic Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia.
