Paweł Kaczmarczyk - JULY 2014

From a superb New York guitarist's quartet, to participation in the 1st Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition, as well as the Piwnica Pod Baranami Summer Jazz Festival – pianist Paweł Kaczmarczyk still isn't laying around in the sun on some sandy beach... He's constantly at work on new ideas, ever full of energy, surprises, and currently realizing several international projects.
MADMAN IN WARSAW
Twelve years ago already, his unique style of playing attracted the attention of the most demanding critics and audiences at the "Guitar City 2002" International Jazz Guitarists' Competition. The 1st Prize which was awarded then proved to be an excellent investment in the development of a young talent.
At present, Rafał Sarnecki has a succession of awards and distinctions from various international competitions to his credit, as well as having performed in 11 different countries on every continent of the world, received a scholarship to the New School University's prestigious jazz program, earned his Master's Degree from Queens College CUNY's jazz department – and last but far from least, put out three enthusiastically received, highly rated, award-winning CDs of his own.
This is the superb guitarist that Paweł Kaczmarczyk will perform with on Friday, July 4th, at the newly-opened jazz club Szósta Po Południu (Six In The Afternoon), in Warsaw.
The Rafał Sarnecki Quartet's lineup consists of: Rafał Sarnecki – guitar, Paweł Kaczmarczyk – piano, Wojciech Pulcyn– bass, Łukasz Żyta – drums.
SEIFERT COMPETITION
On July 16-18, Paweł Kaczmarczyk and his Audiofeeling Trio will be appearing on the stage of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center, in absolutely extraordinary circumstances.
The circumstances are extraordinary because they'll be appearing as part of the 1st Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition. Kaczmarczyk and his group will be serving as a top-notch rhythm section, backing a multitude of young jazz violinists from virtually every part of the world, as they vie for the competition's highest honors.
Alongside the Audiofeeling Trio's leader on piano, and remarkable bassist Maciej Adamczak, Patryk Dobosz will be its guest drummer for these performances.
MANGGHA IN KRAKOW
On July 19th, Kaczmarczyk will once again assume a central role in the 1st Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition, when he plays with the competition's judges – veteran jazz musicians, renowned throughout the world - as part of its gala finale event. On the stage of Krakow's Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, Paweł will be in the company of Glen Moore (bassist and co-founder of the legendary group Oregon), Mark Feldman (associated with John Zorn's circle, among others, and one of the most amazing violinists in modern jazz) and Janusz Stefański (drummer and member of the first groups led by Tomasz Stańko and Zbigniew Seifert).
AUDIOFEELING TRIO IN KRAKOW
A week later (July 27th), the young pianist will be amazing us at the 19th Piwnica Pod Baranami Summer Jazz Festival. This concert is recommended particularly for those fans of Kaczmarczyk's work who couldn't make it to the group's June 'dress rehearsal', prior to entering Alvernia Studios to record the young pianist's latest CD. The festival evening will see the Audiofeeling Trio (with bassist Maciej Adamczak and drummer Dawid Fortuna) presenting their latest compositions, which will be on the group's long-awaited new album (coming out in just a couple of months!). The program will also include more familiar Kaczmarczyk concert material, like his interpretations of tunes by Massive Attack, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles
