Join in making New Tribalism magik happen!

Hello! We are Your Government, and I am Mary Ocher. We've been creating this New-Tribalism for the past 2 years, in sound and vision. all DIY. Last year I focused on my solo work and the album EDEN* because it's significantly harder to get shows for the band without having a release.

So here we are, we can only get this far without funding, and being able to get in touch directly with YOU - the fans and supporters is so much more fantastic than applying for annonymous governmental or corporate funds.

The show with Your Government is an audio-visual experience with projections, smoke and loads of percussion and voodoo inspired outfits.

The plan

We would like to record the album in July at Berlin's Lovelite, the mythical analog studio where Afrobeat legend Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) has recorded before, as well as King Khan and The Shrines (aka Arish A. Khan, psych soul and garage master and my personal musical guru, who produced my recent album EDEN and will hopefully be part of this release as well. He's also the guy who made the Black Lips' recordings sound as awesome as they do and dozens of other incredible shit).

When we manage to get the album recorded and mixed, we'll start shopping it around to find an international label, if we don't, we'll procede with a smaller label or do it ourselves. in any case, we don't want to rely on a label being there too much, and strive to be as independant as possible.

The costs would be as following:

Recordings and mixing the album
Mastering
Making 500 LP's and 500 CD'S
Registration fees / licenses for duplication and publishing

If we get more than these essentials we could also:

Make one or two nice looking music videos to support the release
Pay something to those who have been constantly helping us for free
Make new stage outfits, perhaps some lights and props for a new stage show. Perhaps get our own video projector, so we don't have to decline shows at venues that don't have one.
If we go whole hog - that is, if there's anything left, we'd also make merch for the shows - t-shirts / posters.

What you will get:

You'll be preordering the next release and be part of actually making it.
it might take a while, but we'll try not to keep you waiting too long. There are also plenty of other nice things on offer - Just check the list on the right->

It might take about a year to finish the album, but you can get the rest of the offers earlier if you wish, with an additional fee of 7e for average mailing costs.

Any amount would help, but even if you can't give any, tell your friends, anyone that would be interested. It'll help us A LOT.

Stay tuned! You'll be hearing from us...

Every week there will be a new episode with a new guest of our little homage/spoof of a particular talk show; "Between two drummers".

*SOLO WORK:

Releases:

+ War Songs (2011/Haute Areal)
+ Untitled 7" EP (2012/Haute Areal) SOLD OUT
+ EDEN (2013/Buback/Haute Areal/2014 - Related Records/Hairy Spider Legs)
+ I, Human EP (2013/Buback)

I've just returned to Berlin from a 2 month/50 date North American tour, followed by Austria and Russia and pretty much decided to plunge directly into Your Government.

EDEN (produced by KK), my recent album's EU edition came out on Haute Areal/Buback in June 2013 and its US edition came out this March on Related Records/Hairy Spider Legs and we got wonderful support from WFMU and KDVS as well as some online and printed press. All in all, the album came out in 4 formats, on 4 labels.

Quotes on the recent album:

"Mary Ocher gives me the chills, she frightens me with her feral soul. Her sound is of a true outsider artist, immaculately self possessed. Was this recorded this century? Or out of a basement that's she's been imprisoned all her life? Time to set her loose on the world. I'm so happy she exists. Set me free Mary!"

-Karen O, YEAH YEAH YEAHS

"This is a beautiful, transportive, disturbing, calming, scary and fantastic recording… Her songs and style were from a special planet … with EDEN Mary has entered another zone - adding the feeling one gets from Paul Horn's solo recording in the Taj Mahal and channeling Yma Sumac to her already "one of a kind" artistry. Mary Ocher will open your eye and ears and take you on a journey that will change the way you hear things for a very long time…. "-Hal Willner (SNL / Lou Reed's right hand / music producer. Manchester England England, July 4th 2013

"Mary Ocher arrived at Moon Studios like a UFO.... her performances were otherworldy and absolutely breathtaking. I never thought that an alien could combine the magic powers of Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Buffy Sainte-Marie and tie it all together in Kate's bush. She is the Wolf Messiah in sheep's clothing..."
-King Khan
