| The Joe Temperley Trio at Woodlawn Cemetery Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with The Woodlawn Conservancy and The Duke Ellington Society. Three outstanding musicians: Joe Temperley, baritone sax and leader, Gene Bertoncini, guitar, Michael Moore, bass. No reservations needed. Admission to the Woolworth Chapel, Woodlawn Cemetery offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 1:30 PM for 2 PM concert. When: Sunday, April 27th, 2014 - Concert at 2 PM 11:00 AM through 4:00 PM Before or after the concert, you may visit the graves of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Illinois Jacquet and many other greats who are buried there. Or you can just enjoy the beautiful setting. Jerome Ave. Entrance: Jerome Ave. and Bainbridge Ave., Bronx, NY #4 train uptown to the last stop (Woodlawn). Descend to the street level and the cemetery will be conveniently located immediately to the North. Main Entrance: 517 E. 233rd St., Webster Ave. and E. 233rd St., Bronx, NY #2 train uptown to 233rd Street stop. Descend to the street level. On the North side of the street, you can catch the Bx31 bus; take it two stops down the hill. Upon exiting the bus, the Webster Avenue gate of the cemetery will be kitty-corner to the South. On Wednesday, June 11th, 7 PM, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will perform a FREE open-air 90 minute concert on the lawn at Woodlawn.
