Boundaries—age, genre or otherwise—don't hamper an artist like Sierra Hull. As a player, a singer and a songwriter, Sierra has remarkable range, the potential to win over ears unfamiliar with Bill Monroe and give performances of broad cultural importance, as she's done at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the National Prayer Breakfast. In May 2011, Sierra completed a two-year degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston on a full, Presidential Scholarship. Matt Glaser—head of Berklee's American Roots Music Program—put it this way: "She has no limitations as a musician." Sierra's second CD, Daybreak, was released in March 2011 on Rounder Records and the second video for the album for the title track, "Daybreak, " has been featured on CMT (Country Music Television). The video was directed by award winning director David McClister (Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, Leann Rimes) and can be viewed here: http://www.cmt.com/videos/sierra-hull/693134/daybreak.jhtml New Year's Eve 2013 marks the third consecutive year that First Night Boston, WUMB-FM, and Berklee have collaborated on a live folk/roots concert broadcast. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Jazz News :: home page |
