| Updated Performance Schedule for The Broadway Jazz Club The Broadway Jazz Club, Kansas City's newest jazz destination, announces its December 2013 performance calendar. The winter lineup features a variety of popular local jazz musicians, including pianist Mark Lowrey and vocalist Megan Birdsall. Near the Country Club Plaza and not far from the performing arts venues downtown, The Broadway Jazz Club, located at 3601 Broadway Ave., is in the heart of the Broadway Arts District, offering a rich, historical context to enjoy live jazz five nights a week. The location operated as a speakeasy during the peak of the city's jazz age and is across the street from the historic Ambassador Hotel, where legendary jazz performers like Marilyn Maye once performed. The new venue establishes a community-oriented jazz destination that is accessible, relaxed and centered around Kansas City's tremendous jazz reputation with local musicians. The Broadway Jazz Club offers a live jazz happy hour performance every Tuesday – Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and a featured evening jazz set from 8 p.m. to12 a.m. with a $5 cover. Every Friday includes a live jazz happy hour performance from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and a featured evening big jazz band performance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with a $10 cover. Saturdays include two live jazz performances from 6-9 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Guests can order from a full dinner menu of entrees, appetizers, sandwiches, salads and more from 6-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 6-11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Broadway Jazz Club, Kansas City's community jazz destination, features a diverse lineup of live music five nights a week showcasing Kansas City's most talented jazz musicians, ranging from rhythm and blues, live vocalists and pianists, trios, and five- to six-piece bands. A full-service bar and restaurant, Broadway Jazz Club is led by owner and entrepreneur Neil Pollock and his management team industry veteran Pat Hanrahan, general manager and jazz enthusiast, and Steve Wachsberg, owner and manager of operations.
