| The National Jazz Museum in Harlem December 9-13 Thursday, December 12: Special Event - The Year In Jazz: A Critics Roundtable 7:00 Location: MIST Harlem, 46 West 116th Street. The National Jazz Museum in Harlem invites you for a special event in their Harlem Speaks series which features interviews with icons of the jazz world. Five leading music critics converge to discuss The Year in Jazz in this critics roundtable, hosted and moderated by Nate Chinen, the music critic from The New York Times. The panel, representing a diverse range of perspectives and publications such as The New York Times, NPR Music, JazzTimes, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, and The Village Voice, will consist of Larry Blumenfeld, Greg Tate, Seth Colter Walls and Kevin Whitehead. Join us as they talk about the music, the artists and the moments that shaped jazz in 2013, touching on a host of issues and ideas in the process — and answer a few burning questions from the audience. Fabled sound engineer Doug Pomeroy agreed to come out of retirement to rescue these historic sounds from oblivion. Join us as Doug reveals some of the secrets of his trade - his passion for what he does promises to make this an unforgettable night; we'll listen to before and after recordings to illustrate the points.
