Lauren Crosby to headline Chocolate Church’s concert on Dec. 13

The Chocolate Church will host a benefit concert featuring local musicians all under the age of 23. The concert featuring Lauren Crosby with Abby Dunn and Jesse Gardner as opening acts will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13.

Crosby, a Morse High School graduate, is a young folks/blues singer-songwriter. Recently she studied jazz and blues at the University of Memphis under the tutelage of Ms. Joyce Cobb, legendary blues vocalist. While in the Memphis music scene, Crosby found herself making several connections and singing on lead vocals with a Grateful Dead/Holler Roots cover band around Northern Mississippi and Memphis. In addition to pursuing her music career, she is a full-time student at the University of Maine at Farmington. After college, she plans to be a traveling singer-songwriter, record an album, and publish a book of poems.

Dunn is a senior at Wiscasset High School. She has played guitar since the eighth grade and has been writing songs since ninth grade. Dunn also plays the piano and the ukulele. Future plans include operating her own studio in or around Boston and becoming a producer.

Tickets are $10 and available online at www.chocolatechurcharts.org or by calling 207-442-8455. The Chocolate Church is at 804 Washington Street.
