First Interactive Jazz Video Hangout – The Hang

"The Hang" is a sixty minute program that utilizes Google Hangout, Twitter and Facebook to create a unique, interactive experience. Noon EST on Saturday November 9 marks the debut of "The Hang, " a new interactive show streaming live on the Jazz Video Guy YouTube channel. The program will also be available on demand at the conclusion of the live broadcast.

The first program, "The Musical World of David Liebman, " will put Dave Liebman and a group of his friends, including Rufus Reid, Randy Brecker, Gene Perla and Lewis Porter, into a Google Hangout, a video conference moderated by Bret Primack. Viewers will be invited to "Tweet" their questions and comments or post them on the Hang's Facebook page.

A weekly live program, future editions of "The Hang" will include more group discussions, one on one interviews, music dialogues, and master classes. Bret Primack and Willard Jenkins will alternate as hosts.

The configuration of the participants will also vary, utilizing musicians, presenters and other people involved with Jazz, as well as putting pre-screened representatives from the global Jazz listening audience into the video conferences.

Future programs include Hal Galper, whose Master Class videos are among the popular educational videos on the Jazz Video Guy YouTube channel, in a video conference with eight young musicians; Q&A with Jim Eigo, the King of Jazz Email; Master Class on Improvisation with cellist/composer Akua Dixon; and a drummers' forum, where participants are seated at the drum kit, offering both verbal and musical dialogue.

Jazz Video Guy Bret Primack reports that his new program is "the first in a number of interactive programs that will be streamed live and then available on demand on my YouTube channel. The emphasis here is on audience participation."
