| Matthew Nicholl - Executive Director of Berklee Mediterranean Music Institute Matthew Nicholl has been named executive director of the Mediterranean Music Institute (MMI) at Berklee College of Music. In his new role, Nicholl will collaborate with MMI artistic director and seven-time Latin Grammy winner Javier Limon to develop curriculum supporting the performance, composition, and study of Mediterranean music and culture at the college's Boston and Valencia campuses. He will continue to serve as chair of Berklee's Contemporary Writing and Production in Boston, while commuting to Spain occasionally. Matthew Nicholl, a pianist, composer, and arranger, joined the faculty of Berklee's Harmony Department in 1996 and was appointed chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department in 2002. He has composed soundtracks for films, advertising, and numbers TV shows. Nicholl has also written several books about music and has released three albums. He has performed and taught in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, and all over North America. The Mediterranean Music Institute is part of Berklee's Valencia campus activities as well as a focused area of study in Boston.
