| Norah Jones and Billie Joe Armstrong Team Up In an unlikely pairing, Norah Jones is teaming up with Greenday frontman Billie Joe Armstrong for a track-by-track remake of the classic 1958 Everly Brothers' album, Songs Our Daddy Taught Us. The pair first met performing together in 2005 for a Stevie Wonder tribute at the Grammys. It was Armstrong who initiated the project, falling in love with the record a few years ago. According to a press release Armstrong wanted to re-imagine the famous harmonies with "a woman singing because I thought it would take on a different meaning – maybe broaden the meaning a little bit." The album was recorded over nine days in New York with Armstrong and Jones splitting vocal, guitar and piano duties. They were backed by bassist Tim Luntzel and drummer Dan Rieser and augmented by fiddle player Charlie Burnham and pedal-steel player Johnny Lam. Titled Foreverly, the new record will be released November 25th on Reprise Records. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Jazz News :: home page |
