| Micha Schellhaas releases Second Episode song , “Pick Me Up“ On October 16, 2013 musician Micha Schellhaas releases his Second Episode song, "Pick Me Up" – a southwestern influenced song with a train beat groove. The melody is reminiscent of the Allman Brothers, and features a classic Les Paul sound amongst slide guitar sections and a burning guest solo by Carl Verheyen. Accompanying video clip shows footage from the recording process for the guitars. Recording for the guitars on the EP were done at Sunset Sound studios in Hollywood. In addition to acting as the Producer for the recordings, Carl Verheyen also laid down some accompanying rhythm guitar sections utilizing acoustic guitar, mandolin, baritone guitar, and electric guitar. Carl is featured as a guest soloist on this song. Carl is known to be a guitar tone expert, and brought a trailer of gear for Micha to use on the album to the stuido with a fine selection of vintage guitar amps, speaker cabinets, guitar pedals, and instruments. Sunset Sound is located in the middle of Hollywood and is known as one of the best possible places to record guitar. Many famous guitar based albums were recorded here, including artists like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and Van Halen from the Classic Rock Era, as well as more present day artists such as Prince, Black Keys, and Rage Against the Machine. The studio looks the same as it did in the 60's and 70's, and features one of the famous custom made Neve Consoles, inside Studio B. The famous sound of the Neve Console and the outboard recording and mixing gear avalailable at Sunset Sound has tried to be emulated by software in the digital age, but nothing beats the original hardware with an Engineer who has mastered control of it.This EP features Micha's unique compositions which are guitar forward, melodic, and instrumental, spanning the musical genres of Blues, Jazz, Rock and Americana. This EP is produced by Carl Verheyen, a well known and sought after LA based guitarist and recording artist. Each song from the EP is released separately as its own over a 4 week period. Each Episode features a free download of a song to those signed up to Micha's email list. Along with the free download, subscribers can get an insiders peek of the creative process through a short video that accompanies each release showcasing the well-known accompanying musicians, as well as the recording and production process. Originally from Germany, Micha picked up the guitar at age 9 and has since focused his life on mastering the art and soul of this instrument. Albums of artists like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eddie Van Halen are inspirational roots for Micha, traces of which are felt in his playing today. Also heavily influenced by the Kings of Blues, Albert King, B.B. King, and Jazz masters, George Benson, John Scofield, and Mike Stern, Micha's sound blends warm, strong rhythms with open dynamic melodies. Micha earned a Masters degree in jazz guitar at the prestigious Netherlands ARTEZ Conservatory. Post-graduation, Micha played all over Europe including Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland, and owned and operated his recording studio TRINIX STUDIO in the Netherlands. In 2008, Micha hit the open road across America, with sights set on experiencing more of American blues and jazz culture. While living in Austin, Texas, Micha composed, produced, and played with many up-and-coming musicians and industry experts. Micha now continues his music career in California. Micha's second song release includes a riveting guitar solo by Carl Verheyen. Carl is a world class guitar player and top level, sought after, LA based studio musician, and has released 13 records in his own name as a solo artist. He has played with the band Supertramp since the 1980's. Carl offered to produce Micha's EP after hearing his playing and compositions. Carl Verheyen notes, "Micha is a very melodic player and has great tone on the guitar."
