| 27th Aria Awards Nominees And Fine Arts And Artisan Winners Announced With less than seven weeks until the 27th ARIA Awards, the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) today announced the nominees in all categories, with the winners to be announced at The Star Event Centre, Sydney on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Harley Streten, aka FLUME, accepted his first ARIA Award as the 2013 ARIA PRODUCER OF THE YEAR, and he is leading the way at the 2013 ARIA Awards with 8 nominations in total. The nominations for Flume's self titled #1 debut album include ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST - RELEASE, BEST MALE ARTIST, BEST DANCE RELEASE, the publicly voted SONG OF THE YEAR category for 'Holdin On', BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT, and Joe Nappa has picked up a nomination for Flume's 'Holdin On' in the BEST VIDEO category. Following close behind with 7 nominations is TAME IMPALA for their album 'Lonerism' include BEST ALBUM, BEST GROUP, BEST ROCK ALBUM, and the publicly voted BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT, as well as being nominated in all three Artisan Awards for BEST COVER ART (Kevin Parker & Leif Podhajsky), ENGINEER OF THE YEAR (Kevin Parker) and PRODUCER OF THE YEAR (Kevin Parker). BIRDS OF TOKYO have been nominated in 6 categories for their #1 album, 'March Fires': ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BEST GROUP, BEST ROCK ALBUM and in the publicly voted categories of SONG OF THE YEAR, BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT and BEST VIDEO for 'Lanterns' which was directed by Josh Logue. NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS also scored 6 nominations for their #1 album 'Push The Sky Away', including ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BEST ADULT CONTEMPORARY ALBUM, BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT, BEST GROUP, BEST INDEPENDENT RELEASE and the publicly voted award for BEST VIDEO for 'Jubilee Street, ' directed by John Hillcoat. Nick Cave was also nominated in the Fine Arts category BEST ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK/CAST/SHOW ALBUM for NICK CAVE AND WARREN ELLIS PRESENT 'LAWLESS – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK'. Following with 5 nominations apiece is EMPIRE OF THE SUN and GUY SEBASTIAN. EMPIRE OF THE SUN received nominations in the BEST GROUP and BEST POP RELEASE categories. AARON HAYWARD and DAVID HOMER from DEBASER accepted the 2013 ARIA Award for BEST COVER ART for EMPIRE OF THE SUN 'Ice On The Dune' and the band were also nominated in the ENGINEER OF THE YEAR (Peter Mayes) and PRODUCER OF THE YEAR (Luke Steele, Nick Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Jonathan Sloan) categories. It's been a great year for GUY SEBASTIAN taking out 5 nominations in the following categories for his album, 'Armageddon': ALBUM OF THE YEAR, BEST MALE ARTIST, BEST POP RELEASE and the publicly voted categories of BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT and SONG OF THE YEAR for 'Get Along'. Two of Australia's favourite male artists, MATT CORBY and VANCE JOY, have secured 4 nominations each. As well as being nominated in the BEST MALE category, 2012 ARIA Award winner for Song Of The Year MATT CORBY is nominated again in the publicly voted category of SONG OF THE YEAR for 'Resolution', as well as BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT and director Bryce Jepson has been nominated for BEST VIDEO for 'Resolution'. VANCE JOY'S much loved song, 'Riptide' from the Melbourne artist's debut EP, 'God Loves You When You're Dancing', has been nominated for BEST POP RELEASE and BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST - RELEASE, as well as the publicly voted categories of SONG OF THE YEAR and with director Dimitri Basil has been nominated for BEST VIDEO for 'Riptide'. Scoring a trifecta of 2013 ARIA nominations each are PAUL KELLY, BOY & BEAR, SAN CISCO and THE DRONES. PAUL KELLY added another ARIA Award to his collection of 8 for the album 'Conversations With Ghosts'. With James Ledger, Genevieve Lacey & ANAM Musicians they won the BEST ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK/CAST/CREW/SHOW ALBUM category. Paul Kelly is also nominated in the BEST MALE CATEGORY for his album 'Spring and Fall', as well as being nominated in the publicly voted BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT category for his February/March Australian Tour with Neil Finn. After taking out 5 ARIA Awards in 2011, BOY & BEAR return in 2013 with nominations in the BEST GROUP and BEST ROCK ALBUM categories, as well as being nominated with Wayne Connolly for Producer Of The Year for the album 'Harlequin Dream'. THE DRONES sixth studio album, 'I See Seawead', is also up for BEST ROCK ALBUM, as well as BEST INDEPENDENT RELEASE and the publicly voted BEST AUSTRALIAN LIVE ACT. Fremantle four piece band SAN CISCO have been nominated in the BEST POP RELEASE and BEST INDEPENDENT RELEASE categories, and with director Andrew Nowrojee in the publicly voted BEST VIDEO category for 'Fred Astaire'. ARIA congratulates ABC Music, who have a lot to celebrate today with their artists winning all four 2013 ARIA Fine Arts Awards. A very special mention goes to Virginia Read, one of Australia’s foremost classical music producers and engineers, who has become the first female Engineer Of The Year in ARIA Awards history. Virginia’s 2013 nominations in the Producing and Engineering categories come after the nomination of 21 of her productions during the last decade, with seven of her recordings winning Classical Album of the Year. The past year has seen some impressive stats from the Australian Recording Industry. As well as being the year that the ARIA Charts celebrated their 30th anniversary, 2013 has delivered an extraordinary year for Australian music, including 11 number #1 Australian albums, a feat not achieved since 2004. There have been 84 Australian singles, albums and DVDs awarded gold, platinum or multi-platinum status and 43 individual Australian artists were accredited gold, platinum or multi-platinum status.
