| TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival Now in its second year, the TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival offers seven days of concerts, panel discussions and workshops around Newark, in honor of saxophonist and bebop pioneer James Moody. The festival kicks off on November 4 at 7pm with a concert by tenor saxophonist Jimmy Heath and his quartet at Bethany Baptist Church. Nov 5 at 7pm A Celebration of Amiri Baraka's "Blues People" at 50 Free event celebrating Blues People, the highly influential exploration of African-American music by Newark author and activist Amiri Baraka. Nov 6 at 12:00pm The Dave Stryker Organ Trio Free event with guitarist Dave Stryker Nov 6 at 6:00pm WBGO Champions of Jazz Gala WBGO believes in the vibrancy and significance of jazz as America's gift to world culture. Nov 9 at 10am Day of Swing Families and children of all ages are invited to participate in this free Day of Swing in partnership with Jazz House Kids, an exciting and fun-filled day of jazz exploration and learning.
