At 7:30pm on Saturday, September 28th The Flying Monkey Performance Center presents two of the most heralded Blues artists of our time on the same night. Jazz and Blues guitarist Duke Robillard: Founder of Roomful of Blues, member of multiple bands, and too many records to count in both Jazz and Blues, Duke is known as one of the most serious and influential performing blues guitarists performing today. Concert Tickets start at $29.

The lakes Region will thunder with the sound of blues when two pioneers and blues icons bring their bands to Plymouth.

Luther cut his teeth as a former member of the Muddy Water's band before going out into the blues circuit in Chicago, over time earning a well deserved reputation as a blues master. Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson emerged as the bona fide leader of the West Side guitar style with his unique blend of blues, soul and funk. His incredible guitar riffs and plaintive vocals leave no doubt that Johnson is a blues master at the top of his game.

"Guitar Junior" earned his moniker by performing a blistering blend of single string playing on the electric guitar augmented by powerful chordal accompaniment. Magic Sam immediately signed him upon hearing the teenage "Little Junior" sing Sam Cooke's "Somebody Have Mercy" at a club on Chicago's West Side in the early '60s. After serving his apprenticeship with Muddy Waters(he is one of the last direct links!) and Magic Sam, Luther developed his own signature style.

Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jay McShann, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hammond, the late Jimmy Witherspoon, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, Roomful of Blues (HE FOUNDED ROOMFUL!)… every one of these names has shared recording studio space or stage time with a man who is a legend in the blues community. Guitarist. Bandleader. Songwriter. Singer. Producer. Session musician. The Duke is a one-man cheering section for the blues, in all its forms and permutations. BB King calls Duke, "One of the Greats."

"We're excited to bring back Luther and his band to Plymouth, " says Seth McNally, Director of Booking and Marketing at The Flying Monkey. "We are also pleased to finally get Duke in the room, as he was ill and couldn't make his last show. Having both in one night is truly a rare treat."
