Stephane Wrembel and Kamlo In Special Collaborative Performances this September

Acclaimed composer and guitarist Stephane Wrembel, who recently returned from Nigeria as part of the U.S. State Department's "International Language of Jazz for Peace" program, will perform a short run of dates with longtime friend and fellow musician Kamlo. For three dates in late September, these two visionary talents will appear together in Buffalo, Ithaca, and Rochester, New York. Full show details are included below.

Wrembel and Kamlo have been friends and musical companions for over 15 years. Their instant connection, predicated on a mutual reverence for their instruments and for composition, has evolved over the years and has been reinforced with time. The two also share a palpable desire to express through music what is the most luminous in human beings, using a variety of cultures and genres to communicate with audiences. This powerful collaboration promises to be a riveting and unique concert series. The duo will be joined onstage by Wrembel's dynamic band from New York City.

About Stephane Wrembel

"Intense and full of charisma, " (The New York Times) guitarist and composer Stephane Wrembel has been hailed as "a revelation" (Rolling Stone Magazine) and a "truly astonishing talent, " (All About Jazz).

Parisian born Wrembel – whose music embraces all styles and influence to create a truly signature sound – is recognized as one of the world's most dynamic and inspired players out there today. Wrembel is indeed a standout – not only for his undeniable skills but also for his unparalleled ability to create a unique and vivid listener experience.

Raised in Fontainebleau, France — the birthplace of Impressionism and the home of famed gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt — Wrembel was shaped by the fertile creative landscape of the area from his very early years. He began with classical piano at age 4 before exploring musical genres such as rock, Django, jazz, country, blues, Indian raga, West African, Middle Eastern and others – embracing the many cultures and musical styles he discovered along the way. His arsenal of influences result in a sound unique to Wrembel; a music without genre.

The element of mystery and freedom his music imparts makes it as impossible to ignore as it is to pin down. Whether rocking a huge festival stage or filling up every breath of air in an intimate club – the experience of seeing Stephane Wrembel and His Band perform live is truly unforgettable.

About Kamlo

Rocked in the cradle of a resolutely Mediterranean culture, guitarist Pierre 'Kamlo' Barré borrows from the universal nomadic musical language of Andalusia, the Arabs and Hungarian/Romany gypsies. This worldly experience and influence, carried by the rare finesse of Barré's guitar, make Kamlo's music a true tribute to the itinerant lifestyle of those open to others.

The art of Kamlo embodies this ethos. His guitar serves as an extension of his voice and conversation, sharing his story with all its joys and suffering. His technique adopts by turns the accents of the Saracens' mandola, the chitarra battente of the Italians, the lutes of the Moors and, of course, the guitars of Tziganes and Romany gypsies. The spirit of 'La Chope des Puces' the temple of gypsy-jazz in Clignancourt where Kamlo learned his art, undeniably breathes through everything Kamlo plays. He carries the flag high, bearing all those principles which might be summarized in words like heart, sound, elegance and pride.
