Marilyn Maye Performs "Maye Takes Five" At The Iridium July 10

Hailed as "the greatest white female singer in the world" by Ella Fitzgerald, legendary vocalist Marilyn Maye will perform a special one-night-only engagement at The Iridium on July 10. "Maye Takes Five, " presented by The Iridium and ScoBar Entertainment, will feature her trio (pianist/musical director Tedd Firth, bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Ray Marchica) plus special guests including renowned clarinetist Ken Peplowski and noted trumpet man Brian Pareschi. Sets are at 8 & 10pm.

Maye, who appeared on The Tonight Show a record 76 times during her remarkable career, has been named an Official Jazz Legend by The American Jazz Museum, and she was listed as one of the Best Performers of the Best Compositions of the 20th Century by The Arts Council of The Smithsonian Institution for her recording of Lerner and Lowe's composition, 'Too Late Now.'

The New York Times has praised her "full and rich" voice, while the Wall Street Journal raved that "when going to hear Marilyn Maye, you'll find on one side of the room are the Broadway and cabaret people…[and] on the other side is the jazz crowd...Ms. Maye is the only pop-song diva working today who can satisfy both crowds at once."
