| The Retro Beach Ball Warps South Florida Back to the Jazz Age Swing dancers, jazz fiends and vintage lovers alike are revving up for Swing Out South Florida's annual summer bash, The Retro Beach Ball. The party is set to include a vintage beachwear contest with $150 worth of prizes, a live jazz band, a vintage clothing bazaar, a shark head photo booth, and authentic swing dancing from the era – including a lesson for beginners before the main event taught by a special guest instructor from Orlando. Old surf movies will be projected on the walls and there will be plenty of pool toys to play with, including beach balls and inner tubes."We've pulled out all the stops for this one. We want South Florida to know how fun it is to get your vintage groove on, " explained Leah Herman, a co-founder of and marketing manager for Swing Out South Florida. "We're also planning a fun surprise or two for everyone so there's something special to look forward to at the party."The Retro Beach Ball will take place at C&I Studios, right in the heart of FAT Village, Fort Lauderdale's arts district. The beginner dance lesson goes from 7:30-8:00 PM and no partner is necessary. The main event goes from 8:00-11:00 PM. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Jazz News :: home page |
