Rachel Fields releases “Shambhala”

Brick Fields is comprised of two individuals, Larry Brick and Rachel Fields, who prior to joining forces, have had their own impressive artistic history. To better understand the force behind these two individuals, one needs to know more about them to have a full understanding and appreciation of their music today.

Larry Brick was influenced by Memphis music being relatively close to that area. On the weekends they would observe musicians from the doorways of the clubs. He moved to Colorado where he met another Arkansas musician Larry Womack. Larry Brick traveled to Florida to play some shows but was invited to begin playing Gospel Music in churches. This led him to a Christian label, Maranatha Records. They would play for the Calvary and Vineyard Chapels.

Rachel Fields was influenced by her musical family. She started playing flute at the age of eleven in school and left home at 16 to attend a private school in Vicksburg, Mississippi where she studied classical voice and flute. Rachel later moved to New York City where she studied musical theater, acting and dance at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. She had the opportunity to play with some of the members of Big Brother and the Holding Company. She toured with the Jerry Garcia Band along with she and a few of the JGB players toured as a group called Big Folk. Rachel married and gave birth to twins in 2003 but in 2006 found herself as a single mother with three children and back to Arkansas.

Larry and Rachel met in Eureka Springs, Arkansas one night when Rachel was performing at an outdoor venue. They have been together ever since and are now married giving birth to the duo Brick Fields.

In 2008 Brick Fields released "Only Love" Acoustic which was a home grown and produced project. In 2010 "Gospel Blue" was released which is filled with glorious soulful, smooth blues.

Their latest release "Shambhala" is filled with a fusion of blues, jazz songs with a sprinkle of country and nothing sounds so good. Breaking down the elements of the talents of this group will allow listeners to better understand where this power is coming from. Vocally, there is no match. Vocals are filled with character, animated, emotional, cool and smooth. They are able to bring the listener right into the storyline each and every time. The musical arrangements are exceptional as they balance those raw vocals creating an experience for the audience that they will soon not forget.

Songs that give good representation of their sound are "The Moon is My Friend", "Broken Down Soul", "Higher and Higher" and their single "Shambhala". Each has its own life force:

"Broke Down Soul" is about a young heart that has falling hard for love, making bad choices and having to live with them. This song absolutely carries this bluesy soul flavor to life in a most extraordinary way.

"The Moon is my Friend" is reminiscent of a simpler time when one could sit under the moon and have a friend in it. Played with acoustic guitar with a melancholy rhythm to it and soft vocals carries you into this dream like state becoming completely absorbed by the the moment. Being in the moment…in the now…there is nothing more peaceful in life. This song was arranged and delivered with such emotional way that you are left speechless.

"Higher and Higher" is about being high in life, walking on clouds, high in love and joy. This song has a smooth mixture of pop/jazz/blues energy to it. Vocals, harmony and arrangement is pure perfection.

"Shambhala" is a message of love, peace and unity amongst all people and races, all beliefs and for all walks of life. This song has a bit of a country/pop sound to it with a great musical arrangement which is always matched with great vocals. \

This is only a few songs that give indicators as to the quality of sound and talent Brick Fields has. "Shambhala" is available at most digital store fronts.
