Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival Returns for 29th Year

Movin' and Shakin' into it's 29th year, the Birmingham International Jazz and Blues festival is ready to bring streets and venues across the city alive this summer, with a whopping 150 acts playing in over 80 venues from Friday the 5th July until Sunday the 14th July 2013. This year the festival aims to continue it's mission to deliver stunning music and great performances from truly talented musicians, to anyone willing to listen. With the vast majority of performances and events being free of charge, the festival presents several great days out, without breaking the bank.A full list of confirmed artists can be found at: http://www.bigbearmusic.com/birmingham-international-jazz-blues-festival/artists.html

As well as live performances from both legendary and up-and-coming global talent, this year's festival will include a screening of phenomenal feature length film The Artist, in the world's oldest functioning picture house: The Electric Cinema. Other events include the return of the British Jazz Awards to its home city of Birmingham on the 10th July, 7:30pm in St. Paul's Church in the Jewellery Quarter. This prestigious ceremony, dubbed "The Jazz Oscars" will be followed by The Poll Winners concert, which is set to be a highlight of the festival.

"This is an important event for Birmingham and is an opportunity for everyone to see mostly free live music and events at different venues." – Councillor Ian Ward
