| Keb’ Mo’ brings the blues to Meridian Keb' Mo' may know the blues, but after witnessing one of his stellar performances or listening to any of his 11 albums, it's clear that he knows so much more. Born Kevin Moore to Southern parents living in Los Angeles, Keb' Mo' has spent more than four decades crafting songs influenced by a considerable range of genres, including pre-disco R&B, rock, gospel and folk music, according to a press release. During their spring tour, Keb' Mo' and his band will stop at the MSU Riley Center on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. performance. A 6 p.m. a pre-show party will take place beforehand. The three-time Grammy winner's most recent album, "The Reflection, " debuted in 2011. It received a Grammy nomination in 2012 for Best Blues Album, and is a culmination of Keb' Mo's myriad musical influences. Many of the tracks feature fascinating collaborations — country artist Vince Gill, saxophonist Dave Koz, and soul singer India.Arie are just a few of Keb' Mo's partners on this album. Some critics have placed "The Reflection" in the category of "quiet storm" music, recognizing its leaning toward a mellow, soulful take on smooth jazz. Fans of Lyle Lovett, Robert Cray and Kelly Joe Phelps will appreciate Keb' Mo's music, the press release states.
