Vernon Duke wrote it in 1934. Charlie Parker recorded it in 1949; Billie Holiday and Oscar Peterson in 1952; Dexter Gordon in 1955; and two years latter, Ella and Pops! After a three year hiatus, we at Sugar Loaf Music Series can not think of a better way to celebrate this autumn in New York than in bucolic Sugar Loaf at the Seligmann Arts Center. For over 27 years, it was Sugar Loaf Music Series who brought you folk legend TOM PAXTON; 'mambo king' RAY BARRETTO; piano wizard KENNY BARRON; NEA Jazz Master PHIL WOODS; piano maestro RICHARD KIMBALL; Big Easy Cajun Music Award Winner BRUCE DAIGREPONT; the legendary DAVE VAN RONK; blues man ALBERT COLLINS; Cuban jazz great, PAQUITO D'RIVERA; local jazz icons JEFF CIAMPA, MARK EGAN, FRANK VIGNOLA....the list of extraordinary artists is endless. Now, Sugar Loaf Music is proud to announce its new Salon Series: a series meticulously culled from the best jazz and folk music practitioners anywhere. Three outstanding jazz combinations plus one acclaimed folk artist presented for the first time in our region include: Guitar Masters VIC JURIS & BOB DEVOS (9/29/13) DAVE STRYKER with bassist extraordinaire, JAY ANDERSON (10/20/13) Ace guitarists JACK WILKINS & HOWARD ALDEN (think the guitar sound track in Woody Allen's movie "Sweet and Low Down!)
