Over 300 artists from 52 countries at EUROPAfest

More than 300 artists from 52 countries on four continents will be present, from May 9 to 25, this year, at the 20th edition of EUROPAfest in Bucharest and Sibiu (center ), to offer music lovers jazz, blues, pop and classical music shows.

According to a press release from the organizers of the event - jmEvents - among the artists who will perform in this year's edition of the festival are: the Arnesen Blues Band (Sweden), Thomas Ford (United Kingdom), Yavor & The Sonic Punsch (Belgium, Bulgaria), Sujin Park (Australia, UK), Dario Pinelli & Binario Swing (Italy), Voice (United Kingdom), Mike Davison (USA), Margareta Paslaru (Romania), Anton Voigt (Austria) and Gabriela Mayer (Ireland).

At the same time, artists are expected from South Africa, Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, China, Colombia, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Switzerland, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong-China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Japan, Malaysia, UK, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, USA, Sweden, Taiwan-China, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Uruguay, Vietnam.

The opening concert dedicated to Europe's Day will be held on Thursday, May 9, at the Majestic Hall of Odeon Theatre, under the slogan 'It's all about live quality music!'', organizers planning to make again Bucharest a most beautiful city by a marathon of quality music - jazz, blues, pop, classic.

The series of concerts in clubs and cafes continues this year, as well, at EUROPAfest, within Caffe Festival & Jam Sessions, experienced artists, but also those of the new generation going to hold concerts of jazz, blues, pop and jam sessions among the public.

One of the first three jazz contests in Europe - Bucharest International Jazz Competition - this year reaches its seventh edition, the contest being addressed to jazz bands and soloists, with the aim of recognizing the international jazz values.

The second competition of the festival this year is to gather 144 piano players from 41 countries, a record number, double compared to any international competition of its kind in Romania.

As always, the EUROPAfest Gala will reunite, on May 25, the most famous artists participating in this festival, on this occasion being also scheduled the awarding ceremony of the Diploma of Excellence for promoting culture, to be conferred by the Royal House.

Launched in 1993, under the auspices of Jeunesses Musicales, the event in Bucharest reached its 16th edition, motivation and strength to continue and to 'grow' from year to year arising from the passion for good music, from the desire to demonstrate that one can organize quality professional events in Romania, too, from an enthusiastic audience, ever increasing by each edition.

The large number of countries present at this festival, a large number of competitors, as well as the recognition granted by specialized institutions are a certainty of its earned prestige internationally and the fact that the festival is seen as a milestone of professional music.

Since 2005, EUROPAfest is organized under the high patronage of Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, among the traditional partners in this event being UNICEF, the Bucharest City Hall, the Ministry of Education, and various cultural centers and embassies.
