David Bennett Cohen to Perform at the Renowned Mara's Homemade

The uniquely talented David Bennett Cohen will be performing live at the universally acclaimed Mara's Homemade restaurant on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:30 pm. Mara's Homemade is a widely popular Cajun/Gulf Coast/BBQ eatery in Long Island that provides a dazzling selection of luscious cuisine and spirits, and has been featured on NBC's First Look, Al Roker's Roker on the Road show, in The New York Times and Newsday, to name but a few. David Bennett Cohen is the original piano player for Country Joe and the Fish and is a dynamic live performer and respected music educator, including the author of several piano instruction books and DVDs. At Mara's Homemade he will be performing tunes from his piano album release Cooking With Cohen (a perfect match for Mara's!), which was short listed for a Grammy nomination, along with other original and traditional favorites.

"Mr. Cohen isn't the average hippie gone Wall Street, he's also a certifiably smokin' barrel house rumba boogie-woogie piano player in the James Booker/Professor Longhair/Dr. John vein."
—James Lein for the CMJ New Music Report

Over the years David has played and/or recorded with such luminaries as Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Bob Weir (Grateful Dead), Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), The Blues Project, Elvin Bishop, Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf's guitarist), David Blue, Tim Hardin, Norton Buffalo (Steve Miller Band), Buddy Miles, John Cipolinna (Quicksilver Messenger Service), Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, and many others.

Lately, David has been playing with The Former Members, a group of seasoned musicians who were core members of three legendary bands that performed at the prestigious and historic Monterey International Pop Festival, and who recently completed a highly successful tour of Europe. The Former Members consist of David; Bruce Barthol (Country Joe & the Fish); Roy Blumenfeld (The Blues Project); and Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band).

"David was one of the pioneers of the era on electric keyboard—the sound of his keyboard defined the Country Joe and the Fish sound."—Country Joe McDonald

Don't miss this rare opportunity to catch a live performance by one of the trailblazers of the electric keyboard, David Bennett Cohen.
