| Matt "Guitar" Murphy To Make Iridium Debut Blues icon Matt "Guitar" Murphy, who's performed with everyone from Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf to Chuck Berry and Etta James, will make his Iridium debut with an intimate, one-night-only collaboration with Les Paul's Trio on April 15. The performance will come on the heels of his appearance at Madison Square Garden with Booker T & the MG's (featuring Steve Cropper, Jonny Lang, and Keb' Mo) for Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival on April 12. Sets for Murphy's Iridium show are at 8 & 10pm, and tickets are available at http://www.theiridium.com Murphy was already performing with Howlin' Wolf as early as 1948, and by the 1950's had relocated to Chicago, where he began his long association with Memphis Slim. Murphy's incredibly fast and intricate blues riffs earned him spots onstage and in the studio with the likes of Ike Turner, James Cotton, Otis Rush, and more. He famously appeared in the film 'The Blues Brothers' (Aretha Franklin played his wife) and recorded and performed with the Blues Brothers for the next two decades.
