| Acoustic Rock and Jazz at Bay Harbour Market this Weekend Head to Bay Harbour Market this weekend for awesome acoustic rock and phenomenal jazz from great South African artists. Bringing their blend of folk, rock and blues to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage for Friday Nite LIVE! on January 11th is Cape Town outfit Two Minute Puzzle. Formed in 2010 when Andrew Winer and Patrick McCay got together to record some instrumental ideas in a home studio, Two Minute Puzzle have gone on to receive an overwhelming response from a rapidly accumulating swarm of fans and have played at top Western Cape music festivals, including Rocking the Daisies and Synergy in 2011. Patrick McCay only started playing guitar at the age of 23, yet he played and sang his way into the Jack Mantis Band and he has been writing and performing ever since. Instrumentalist Andrew Winer was one of the founding members of the band 7th Son. After 5 years with the band, he went on to pursue alternative musical avenues such as 7ft Soundsystem as well as his solo project, Sadhu Sensi. As soon as live performances came into the equation for Two Minute Puzzle, drummer Jean Labuschagne (Step Dog) was added to the live ensemble and also contributed to the independent release of the band's debut EP. This is one line-up you don't want to miss! Hitting the stage on Saturday January 12th is 6-piece jazz ensemble Bamboo Pavilion. This Cape Town band plays a variety of instrumental standards with a strong bebop flavour, taking the audience through a diverse jazz repertoire from lesser known gems to well composed originals. The horn section is made up of Doug Armstrong on Trumpet and Flugelhorn and John Thorne on Tenor Sax, accompanied by a rhythm section consisting of Paul Stein on keyboards, Michael Kuhnert on guitar, Richard Weissenberg on bass, and Simon Annet on drums.
