Shoshana Bush to record live album at Catalina Jazz Club, Hollywood

Young jazz storyteller, Shoshana Bush, kicks off early in 2013 with an appearance and live recording at Catalina Jazz Club on January 3rd at 8:30pm (doors open at 7pm). She'll perform her own arrangements of (mainly) American Jazz and Blues standards with her band, which includes Isamu McGregor on piano, guitarist Larry Koons, George Young on alto sax and flute, bassist David Robaire and drummer Gene Coye. The singer has made two previous sold-out appearances at the iconic Hollywood venue.

"This set of tunes and tales is diverse and near and dear to my heart, " says Shoshana. "I grew up with these songs, and learned to instill my own voice while surrendering to the simplicity at the heart of each of them."

Shoshana's delicate looks and stature mask a fierce commitment to the simple narrative at the heart of these classic songs, which include "Since I Fell for You, " "The Man I Love, " and "Star Crossed Lovers." An intense multi-genre love of music also extends from jazz influences like Nina Simone, Blossom Dearie and Ahmad Jamal to electronica and beyond. Her other ongoing projects include a vibrant L.A. based dance collaboration called Blue Green Gray and Ice Age, through which she channels her inner rapper. These ensembles have played Central S.A.P.C.

A native Angelano who lives in New York, Shoshana holds a degree in Jazz Studies from Columbia University. Her off campus work included study with George Lewis, Christine Correa and Barry Harris, as well as workshops with Tierney Sutton and Jane Monheit. Fully immersed in the city's jazz scene, she plays frequently all around town from swank spots to jazz joints, including Birdland, Ella, Caffé Vivaldi and Nuyorican Poets Café.
