The New Year At The Iridium

The Iridium's kicking off 2013 with some big names and old favorites, from performances by powerhouse vocalists like Macy Gray and Shemekia Copeland to guitar masters like Leslie West and Andy Timmons.

Check out January's highlights below, and don't miss the return of jazz/fusion guitar giant Mike Stern's annual New Year's Eve run 12/27-31, where he'll be joined by an all-star lineup including Grammy-winning trumpeter Randy Brecker (Charles Mingus, Todd Rundgren), bassist Anthony Jackson (Simon & Garfunkel, Chick Corea), and drummer Dave Weckl (Robert Plant, George Benson).

1/3-4: Ed Palermo Big Band w/ Napoleon Murphy Brock – Zappa veteran Napoleon Murphy Brock joins celebrated saxophonist/bandleader Ed Palermo and his Big Band for two nights of jazz-inspired Zappa arrangements in their return to The Iridium.

1/5-7: Andy Timmons - As guitarist for pop-metal band Danger Danger, Timmons sold over a million records worldwide and had two #1 videos on MTV. At The Iridium, he'll pay tribute to one of rock and roll's most iconic albums with his Sgt Pepper's tribute 1/5 before performing with his power trio 1/6 and sitting in with Les Paul's Trio 1/7.

1/11-13: David Murray Big Band featuring Macy Gray - Village Voice "Musician of the Decade" honoree and Grammy-winning saxophonist David Murray returns to The Iridium with his Big Band, this time sporting Grammy-winning R&B star Macy Gray on vocals.

1/17-19: Shemekia Copeland - Grammy-nominated blues belter Shemekia Copeland has opened for the Rolling Stones and shared the stage with Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Taj Mahal and John Mayer. She'll return to her native New York City for a 3-night run at The Iridium.

1/25-26: Leslie West - Most noted for his role as leader of the explosive hard rock trio Mountain, which earned its place in rock history with an incendiary performance at Woodstock and has been named one of the Top 100 Hard Rock Groups of all time by VH1, Leslie West has recorded or played with a litany of rock icons including Billy Joel, Van Halen, The Who, Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix.
