New Brunswick Jazz Festival to Take Over Hub City This Weekend

The four-day festival will feature performances from number of contemporary jazz artists, including Roy Ayers, Winard Harper and Kim Waters. Jazz music will be the thing this weekend with the return of the 8th Annual New Brunswick Jazz Festival.

The festival begins tonight, Oct. 4, with a performance by Winard Harper and Jeli Posse at Makeda Ethiopian Restaurant on George Street.

According to a press release from festival organizers, this year's festival will be the largest to date, with a selection of jazz, blues and R&B artists.

Free performances are scheduled throughout the weekend at Delta's, Tula Restaurant and Lounge, Panico's, Makeda, and the Heldrich.

The festival's main event will be on Sunday at the Hyatt Regency, with a performance by Ayers, Baldwin, Waters and Corniel, The JT Project, Bob Baldwin and Friends, and Radam Schwartz with Conspiracy for Positivity, featuring Carrie Jackson.

Tickets for the Sunday showcase are $75 for reserved seats and $55 for general admission.

Thursday, Oct. 4:

7:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Winard Harper and Jeli Posse at Makeda Restaurant, 338 George St. This performance is hosted by the New Brunswick Jazz Project.

Friday, Oct. 5:

5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Curtis Lundy at Makeda Ethiopian Restaurant, 338 George St.

8 p.m.-11 p.m. Valerie Adams and The New Dimensions Band, at the Heldrich, 10 Livingston Ave.

10 p.m.-1 a.m. The John Bianculli Trio with vocalist Jackie Jones at Due Mari, 78 Albany St.

Saturday, Oct. 6:

7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Madame Pat Tandy at Delta's Restaurant, 19 Dennis St.

8 p.m. - 11 p.m. The James White Band at Makeda Ethiopian Restaurant, 338 George St.

9 p.m. – 12 a.m. Lady CeCe at Panico's Restaurant, 103 Church St.

10 p.m. – 1 a.m. The Gordon James Band at Tula's Restaurant and Lounge, 47 Easton Ave.

Sunday, Oct. 7th at the Hyatt Regency, 2 Albany St.
