Hurricane Isaac Relief Extravaganza

Scott Detweiler New Orleans Jazz Funksemble will perform at the Hurricane Isaac Relief Extravaganza at Henri's Back Room in Canoga Park on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 8:00PM - 10:30PM. The SDNOJF features Scott Detweiler (vocals/guitar), Ed Cogan (piano/organ), Dale Jennings (bass), Bill Johnston (saxophones) and Albert Trepagnier (drums).

Proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans and Gulf Coast Red Cross in order to help replenish resources used during the first response efforts for the Hurricane Isaac disaster. The performance will also celebrate the release of Detweiler's latest effort, Mercy Of The Groove" (Detweiler Records). Scott Detweiler, raised and educated in New Orleans as a private pupil of Ellis Marsalis, and then later with Henri Mancini, is a prolific composer and lyricist known for his unique vocal and guitar style that brings together the elements of funk and blues to jazz in a way that is like no other.

He is one of the most compelling singing guitarists to emerge from the Crescent City in recent memory. He is also a gifted arranger of classics from the American jazz, blues and soul catalog of standards, and as a live performer, he is unrivaled in his ability to lead his group through impromptu arrangements and bring the best out of the individual players in front of a live audience.
