"The Curmudgeons" Host All Star Revue on August 25 at Sindbad's

'The Curmudgeons' - featuring notable Detroit musicians Jackson Smith, Vinnie Dombroski, Chef Chris, James Cloyd Jr., Erich Goebel and Dylan Dunbar - will perform together for one night only on Saturday, August 25 at Sindbad's in Detroit. Doors are at 9 pm; tickets are $10 at the door, and ages 18 and over are welcome to attend.

Fans won't want to miss what's sure to be an absolutely stellar night of music ranging from low down dirty blues to alt-country rock, by some of Metro Detroit's most acclaimed musicians. "This will truly be an exciting and fun night of music, " explains The Curmudgeons' Jackson Smith. "We'll be trading instruments and vocals, conjuring up spontaneous moments of pure musical magic, " he adds.

The Curmudgeons' musical resume is literally off the charts, comprised of:

Vinnie Dombroski, lead singer of platinum-selling modern rock band Sponge, alt country twang-masters The Orbitsuns, and TV soundtrack darlings Crud, Vinnie will alternate between vocals and drum duties.

Guitarist Jackson Smith's (son of legends Patti Smith and Fred "Sonic" Smith), recording credits include studio sessions with Elton John, Steve Earle, Jeff Bridges, Gregg Allman and Elvis Costello to name a just a few. Locally, he wields guitar in the Waycross Georgia Farmboys and The Orbitsuns. Smith recently played guitar on Lisa Marie Presley's latest CD "Storm and Grace."

Chef Chris has been a mainstay on the Detroit/Ann Arbor blues scene since the early nineties, earning a reputation as both a stellar BBQ/Cajun chef and a highly respected blues front man. Billboard Magazine and cd duplicating giant Discmakers named Chef Chris and his Nairobi Trio a top ten independent artist in 2003. He has also performed with the Blue Plate Specials and with the Rumpshakers, which he formed with fellow Curmudgeons band member Dylan Dunbar in 2007.

Grammy-nominated bassist and vocalist James Cloyd Jr. has played with countless blues legends, most notably BB King, Albert King, and Otis Rush in addition to the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia. A favorite of the Chicago Blues scene, Lloyd performs regularly with his band The Alley Katz at Buddy Guys' Legends, Kingston Mines, Biddie Mulligan's, and on the national blues festival circuit. He is also a founding member of The Flying Crowbars with Curmudgeons band mate Erich Goebel.

Vocalist and guitarist Erich Goebel is one of Metro Detroit's most respected blues musicians. Goebel has toured the world, snagging an Emmy Award in the 30th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York in 2009. He currently performs with his blues trio The Flying Crowbars throughout the Midwest.

Rounding out the line up is Dylan Dunbar on guitar. Dunbar made a name for himself in the popular Detroit rock outfit Long Black Sedan. He now plays guitar with Curmudgeon cohorts Jackson Smith in the Waycross Georgia Farmboys and with Vinnie Dombroski in The Orbitsuns.

Don't miss this all-star night of dirty, alt-country blues and rock, featuring a truly spectacular lineup of Detroit music luminaries, on Saturday, August 25 at Sindbad's.

Sinbad's is located at 100 Saint Clair Street in Detroit, Michigan. The Curmudgeons will perform in Sindbad's Sohar Room, which enjoys a panoramic view of the Detroit River.
