| Marc Eliot at Kitano After recent performances with jazz notables such as cornetist Warren Vaché, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra trombonist Vincent Gardner, and song stylist Jane Monheit (mentioned in a recent New York Daily News jazz column), and at Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland, the fine composer-singer Marc Eliot now takes the stage at the new Jazz at Kitano club on August 8th, fronting a quartet. For years he's built a following at the venerable Friar's Club, and is the 2012 Friar of the Year. In years past, he's graced the stage of regional theaters, summer stock and off-Broadway shows. Now he's ready for his spotlight. "On my latest CD, New York Blue, I sing medleys of standards and a few originals that I've composed over the years with a love of the American Songbook. My own compositions fit in that vein. I believe it's time for my singing and my songs to reach wider audiences, especially those who dig jazz, cabaret, and the Broadway tradition. I invite my friends, old and new, to come on by for a good time!" write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Jazz News :: home page |
