| 8/11: Berklee Brings Jazz to Peddocks Island Berklee College of Music, Boston Harbor Island Alliance, and the Boston Harbor National Park have joined forces to bring free live music to picturesque Peddocks Island on Saturday, August 11 at 1:00 pm. The concert features Berklee student jazz trombonist John Egizi. Berklee on Peddocks Island is free to the public. The concert takes place weather permitting. Peddocks Island is accessible by ferry from Boston's Long Wharf North (MBTA Blue Line to Aquarium Station, Green or Orange line to Haymarket Station). Ferry tickets can be purchased at the Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion on the Rose Kennedy Greenway - across from the Long Wharf Marriott, or online at BostonsBestCruises.com. John Egizi started playing guitar at 10 and picked up the trombone at 11 without realizing that his family had been playing the instrument for generations. After his father introduced him to jazz by playing Michael Brecker, Egizi became obsessed with the genre. While in high school, he won soloist awards at major jazz competitions around the country, and played in the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and the Thelonious Monk All-Star High School Jazz Septet. Egizi has shared the stage with artists like Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, and Antonio Hart. He also plays bass, composes jazz music, and produces hip-hop tracks. Egizi is a graduate of the prestigious L.A. County High School for the Arts and attends Berklee through the college's Presidential Scholarship. Berklee on Peddocks Island is part of Berklee Summer in the City presented by Natixis Global Asset Management, which brings free musical performances by Berklee faculty, students, and alumni to neighborhoods in the Boston area and beyond.
