| Jazz Gitan carries on tradition at Zia’s Zia's, 312 Main St. in Placerville, is presenting Jazz Gitan on Saturday, July 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Jazz Gitan is an acoustic jazz trio that carries on the tradition of gypsy swing created by Django Reinhardt together with Stephane Grappelli during their domination of the Paris jazz scene in the 1930s. The music of Jazz Gitan is the swinging jazz of the '30s and '40s, plus a cross-section of songs from the modern Gypsy jazz repertoire. It includes Latin, blues, and original styles combined to create a unique foot tapping and high energy Parisian influenced experience. The band has performed for all types of venues, events, and festivals both regionally and locally and assuredly provides exciting, engaging music for all to enjoy.
