| Rolling Stones Return To Site Of Their First Live Gig The Rolling Stones got together on Wednesday (July 11) to have their picture taken in front of the Marquee Club London, the site of their first gig on July 12, 1962. The band, which debuted as the Rollin' Stones, was comprised of Mick Jagger (vocals), Brian Jones (guitar), Keith Richards (guitar), Ian Stewart (piano), Dick Taylor (bass) and Tony Chapman (drums). The photo will appear in Rolling Stones 50, a "superb reportage photography, contact sheets, negative strips, outtakes and so much more, from every period in the band's history, " as a press release for the book says. "This is our story of 50 fantastic years, " added the band in a statement. "We started out as a blues band playing the clubs and more recently we've filled the largest stadiums in the world with the kind of show that none of us could have imagined all those years ago." write your comments about the article :: © 2012 Jazz News :: home page |
