Chilly Gonzales To Release 'Solo Piano II'

Musical chameleon Chilly Gonzales will release 'Solo Piano II, ' the follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed 'Solo Piano, ' August 28 via iconic indie label Arts & Crafts. Gonzales, who has collaborated extensively with Feist as both producer and performer, and earned considerable acclaim on both sides of the studio glass for his work with everyone from Iggy Pop and Drake to Daft Punk and Peaches, recorded the album over ten days alone in Paris' Studio Pigalle. The record's 14 tracks solidify Chilly Gonzales' status as a genuine master pianist and entertainer extraordinaire, part Philip Glass, part Andy Kaufman.

He'll kick off an international tour of festivals and concert halls later this month, including a stop at New York's Lincoln Center with a 10-piece chamber orchestra on Nov 1. Check out this exclusive PIANOVISION video of album opener "White Keys": http://bit.ly/OA4lRQ. The Itunes Deluxe LP features seven PIANOVISION and other videos along with exclusive bonus tracks, sheet music, and behind-the-scenes photos.

"I think a lot of people when they go see classical and jazz, it's hard to find a way in, " Chilly Gonzales told legendary British journalist Sir David Frost in an interview earlier this year. "I think people need to feel engaged in it. I'm trying to take those old skills of classical music and jazz and bring them into the world of entertainment that we live in." So while Gonzales will headline London's Barbican Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra this fall, you're equally likely to find him in his adopted hometown of Paris setting the Guinness World Record for longest solo performance (27 hours, 3 minutes and 44 seconds), or in NYC fighting dirty in a piano battle with Andrew W.K., or at a sold-out POP Montreal performance leading a string quartet in a mashup of "Another Ones Bites The Dust"/the "Knight Rider" theme song while wearing a bathrobe and slippers.

Called "a maverick king" by NME and a "superproducer" by The Guardian, Grammy-nominated Chilly Gonzales has been garnering consistent praise for nearly two decades in an iconoclastic career that has spanned the gamut from alt-rock to electro to orchestral rap. In 2010, his "Never Stop" became the ubiquitous soundtrack to Apple's Ipad campaign. Stay tuned for more info on 'Solo Piano II' and US tour dates.
