Sunny Leigh at The Metropolitan Room

Sunny Leigh will perform at The Metropolitan Room on Sunday, May 20th.
Sunny Leigh sings jazz, blues & originals with an all-star jazz trio featuring the incomparable Dave Finck on Bass, the legendary Chris Parker on drums and the amazing Barry Levitt on piano. Sunny Leigh is an artist, writer, singer, dancer, poet, actress and healer. She lives her life guided by one fundamental truth, love is the answer. Her songs are honest, realistic portrayals of life. A life lived by a woman. A life full of honest realities, a life of love. She started in entertainment when she was a child on Broadway and starred opposite Bernadette Peters, moved on to television/film and has transitioned into songwriting/ music. Sunny Leigh is now thrilled to be working on this exciting new project of jazz and originals co-written with Barry Levitt.

David Finck is among most sought after musicians in New York. His playing can be heard on more than 250 CDs including Multi platinum, Gold, and Grammy winner. The bassist of choice for Andre Previn, Hank Jones, and Steve Kuhn, David has recorded with among others: George Michael, Gladys Knight, Rod Stewart, Natalie Cole, and Rosemary Clooney. In 2008 he released his highly acclaimed CD: 'Future Day' (Soundbrush) . David has produced CDs for Tom Wopat, John Basile, Carol Fredette and Christy Baron. His 1991 article for the Village Voice led to a contribution to the book: Frank Sinatra; The Man, The Music, The Legend. (University of Rochester Press)

-Born in Chicago, Chris Parker was playing drums at age three and began performing his first professional gigs at eleven. At nineteen, Parker began recording and touring with blues great, Paul Butterfield and then broke into the New York studio scene in 1970, doing records, movie scores and filling the drum chair at Saturday Night Live. Toph, as friends know him, recorded platinum, gold and Grammy winning albums and CDs with many artists, including the original Brecker Brothers, Bob Dylan, Cher, Donald Fagen, Ashford and Simpson, Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Hubbard, James Brown, Salt n' Pepa, Stuff, Miles Davis, Patti LaBelle, Michael Bolton, and Suzy Boggus. He has toured with many artists; among them Boz Scaggs, Joe Cocker, Joe Cool, Bob Dylan, Bette Midler, Paul Simon, and Ralph MacDonald.

Barry Levitt- has been a presence on the New York Music scene since 1973 when he was appointed Music Director of the Plaza Hotel's famed Persian Room. He has been working with a who's who of New York's finest jazz musicians ever since. Cameron Brown, Jon Burr, Dave Finck, Ben Brown, Jeff Carney, Bill Moring, Elliot Zigmund, Jerome Jennings, Chris Parker, Brian Brake, Billy Mintz, Anthony Pinciotti, Brian Grice, Eddie Gladden, Eddie Crawford, Dave Schnitter, Jerome Richardson, Bill Easley Rob Scheps, Eddie Daniels, Mike Lawrence, Burt Collins, Tom Harrell, Conrad Herwig, John Fedchock, Bary Rogers. And singers such as Marlene Ver Planck, Margaret Whiting, Rosemary Clooney, Jackie Paris, Ann Marie Moss, Melba Moore, Nell Carter, Ben Vereen, Carol Woods, Chuck Cooper, Ethel Ennis, David Allyn, Annette Sanders, La Tanya Hall, Hilary Kole.
